Starting next Saturday, the WhatsApp application will stop working on 49 types of smartphones, from different brands, whether they are running the “iOS” or Android system, according to the “Giz China” technical website.
It is scheduled that the social network, which is owned by Meta, will stop rolling out updates as of December 31, which will eventually lead to the closure of the WhatsApp service on these smartphones.
Among these devices, on which the application will stop working, are the iPhone 5, iPhone C, a number of Samsung devices such as the Galaxy S2, Core, and S3 mini, and some Huawei phones such as Ascend D, D1, D2, G740, Mata, and P1.
It also includes some LG devices such as the XL, Lucid 2, and some Lenovo, Sony, and Wiko devices.
On the official support page, WhatsApp stated that the application will support Android devices running 4.1 or later, and Apple devices running iOS 12 or later.
What unites these phones is that they are old, which means that modern devices will not be affected.
